Vast retreat areas and extensive animal migration routes have become rare. That is why this book is dedicated to a Europe-wide project, the "Green Belt", born from preserving the green strip along the former East German border. Today, it is an important symbol for maintaining animal migration paths, without which many animals in Europe would cease to exist. How unique and worth protecting the nature of Europe is, is shown in the book by Klaus Tamm. They are the images of a multi-award-winning photographic genius and nature enthusiast. Klaus Tamm does not satisfy himself with a first glance. He goes "right up close", often delivering the detail. These are photos full of grace and intensity. The book thrives on surprise and fleeting moments. Often one wants to ask whether what one sees there could really happen, but the rules of nature photographers are strict. Any manipulation is strictly prohibited.

His work has brought Klaus Tamm much praise and honor. In 2012 and 2015 he was elected Nature Photographer of the Year (GDT). He has recently received several international awards from the BBC for his work. The texts accompanying the photos are sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes they make the reader smile. They surprise, amaze and inform. Author Christian Arns is head of the German Press Academy. He was a journalist at the "taz," press spokesman at the Federal Ministry of Justice and chairman of BUND-Berlin.
